Starting University is a big leap, so the University's services to our students includes the 24 hour Sheffield Nightline service, which is a member of the National Nightline Association. Sheffield Nightline offers all our students somebody to talk to whenever they need it, however big or small their concern might be.
Sheffield Nightline is a telephone and e-mail listening service run by trained student volunteers. They are anonymous, confidential, non-directive, non-judgemental and they are always happy to listen. They are also a source of information whether our students want to know a taxi number, what to do if they’ve lost their U-card or which Student Services are most helpful to them in any situation.
Nightline's phone lines are open from 8pm to 8am every night during term time and they run Instant Messaging (IM) alongside this between 8pm and 12midnight, subject to volunteer availability. Their e-listening (email) service is also open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Nightline aims to answer all emails within 48 hours.
