It's that time of year where the annual Sheffield Half Marathon is approaching on Sunday 14th April 2019 and there are places with The University of Sheffield team available! Please sign up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment: https://goo.gl/forms/oxS1YeEF8
The team is open to runners of all abilities. Whether you hope to finish amongst the front-runners or you're new to the running scene, we'd love to hear from you. All we ask is that you're up for the dual challenge of completing the marathon and fundraising for University of Sheffield Student Scholarships.
The University is meeting the costs of your entry and we will provide you with a running T-shirt and fundraising advice to set you on your way. We want all participants to be fully committed to using their networks within and outside the University and to raise £150 each for Student Scholarships - if the whole team meets this target then we'll be able to fund at least one full undergraduate scholarships for 3 years. We are offering students the option of raising a minimum of £100, and if you have any concerns surrounding raising the money then please don't hesitate to contact us on the email below!
With a city centre start and finish, the Sheffield Half Marathon route takes runners out of the city along Ecclesall Road, up the long hill beyond Hunter's Bar, along Knowle Lane and Ringinglow Road up to the Norfolk Arms, just a few metres from the Peak District National Park, before turning left, flattening out and then descending back into Sheffield, with fantastic views of the city below. You will loop back into the city down the same stretch of Ecclesall Road with thousands of spectators cheering you on and willing you towards the finish line.
