Residence Life Mentor Visits

Mentors will always be there to support you and be your guide throughout your time living with us at The University of Sheffield. This year will just be a little different in terms of how you are contacted but the support aspect will be the same.

What can the student expect from us?

  • Readily available members of the team with flexibility about the students' preferred methods of contact- email, phone, online, drop-in (socially distanced)
  • Residence Life Mentors will model good practice, socially distance and wear face coverings inside (unless exempt)
  • Residence Life Mentors will be provided with appropriate equipment such as face coverings, hand sanitiser
  • Visits in person will be limited to minimise uncessary contact
  • Communications will be mainly through digital resources to minimise risk to residents through leaflets etc
  • Residence Life Mentors will aid residents to understand safety guidelines and implement appropriate measures to ensure the safety of their household

What do we expect from the student?

  • Wear face coverings (unless exempt) when in communal areas outside of their flat/house
  • Comply with measures in relation to social distancing from visiting staff and Mentors, and with people outside of their household
  • Maintain excellent hand hygiene and follow the safety measures in place for the buildings or events they attend
  • No guests within any communal areas of a shared flat/house without the express permission of all members of the household. In any case this should be visitors from one other household at a time and social distancing guidelines should be observed
  • We advise that all visitors of an individual within a flat/house from outside the household stay within the study bedroom of the person they are visiting and social distancing is maintained

  • Visits in person will be limited to essential visits only

What do we expect from the student?

  • Students to keep contact details up to date on records and maintain regular contact with family and friends. This reduces people being concerned for their wellbeing, and aids communication with them via email and phone when necessary.
