So you’ve arrived and we bet your first few weeks have been full of social events, meeting new people and a few parties and some of these situations may have involved alcohol. We at Residence Life want you to have fun but we also want you to be safe and that’s why we’ve teamed up with Red Frogs, a charitable organisation dedicated to keeping you safe.
Red Frogs is a charity run by students for students, with the main aim of keeping people sober enough to stay safe, but in a way that doesn’t detract or distract from the ‘fun’ aspect of being on a night out. Red Frogs recognise that the culture of young people may involve alcohol and that excessive consumption of alcohol and other substances can lead to dangerous and life altering behaviours. Therefore Red Frogs make it their mission to provide a positive peer presence in environments where young people gather to promote safe partying behaviour. They also give out free food!
Red Frogs will be at The Edge Bar every fortnight on a Thursday starting this week on 5 October. so come along and have a game of pool with them. They may even challenge you to play whilst wearing Beer Goggles. They’ll also give you some free snacks to line your stomachs if you’re drinking.
Red Frogs want you to recognise them as a memorable symbol of safety and help. You may see them when you’re on a night out along Division St or in the Viper Room. So if you’ve had a bit too much to drink, or you’re feeling wobbly on your feet, go see them and they’ll give you some water, something to eat and get you safely into a taxi home.
