Postgraduate Pie in the Pub!

One of the latest events organised by the Residence Life Team was the Postgraduate Pie in the Pub! The University Arms was the perfect location for gathering postgraduate students because it's easily accessible to all and gives students a warm welcome. It was an event with only one goal: new postgraduate students making new friends.

The evening started at 7pm and the staff at the bar were very welcoming - they were ready and waiting for us all to arrive. The atmosphere was great and I could smell the food coming from the kitchen. It smelt absolutely delicious!

The students that attended were great people. They were all from different places around the world, different cultures and different backgrounds which was great because the conversations were very diverse and everyone could learn something new. I felt truly privileged to be a part of them. Looking around the table throughout the evening I could see that everyone was really involved. They were chatting and I could hear the students laughing, making jokes and sharing experiences and thoughts. The topics of conversation were very different: at one point we all shared our travelling experiences and what we liked and disliked about them. It was so interesting to hear about all these experiences from different perspectives

When the food arrived it was delicious and everyone really enjoyed it. The pie options were lentil hot pot; meat and potato or chicken and leek, so there was something to suit everyone. And the best part: IT WAS FREE FOOD. Everyone was obviously very happy about that!

Events like these are the main reason I recommend getting involved with Residence Life! The goal of these activities is to engage students from all walks of life and help them meet new people and make lasting friendships.

So, what more can I say? I can’t wait to tell you guys about the other activities Residence Life Team are organising - I will be getting involved for sure and I hope to see you all at some of them!

All the best,

Laura Sh.
