A team of knowledgeable and experienced Student Support and Wellbeing Officers (SSWOs) are available to advise and signpost residents on a wide range of student related matters. SSWOs have received rigorous training including but not limited to Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, Sexual Violence Liaison Officer training, and Mental Health First Aid. They lead teams of Residence Life Mentors, experienced students who deliver a peer mentoring scheme across Ranmoor/Endcliffe and City/St Vincents'. Find out more about the Residence Life team and the service here. If you have any questions or concerns you'd like to discuss, get in touch via email at email@example.com .
Residence Life is a great first point of contact. They work closely with other support services across TUoS and within the broader community. If you'd like information on support options, check out this useful link.
If you ever have serious concerns over your own or another student resident's immediate safety or wellbeing, please contact University Security Services on 0114 222 4444. They are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you live in Allen Court or St Vincent's accommodation, call 999 and inform your local Customer Service desk.
Every year the Residence Life team develop and implement Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) for students who require assistance during emergency evacuations. PEEP measures may include an alternative place of refuge, a vibrating pillow or a flashing alarm indicator. Every case is assessed on an individual basis, and arrangements are made in line with requirements declared by students.
Residence Life also support students under 18 years of age, or those who are responsible for them to ensure they feel safe in University accommodation. Find out more about the Under-18s policy here. When required, Residence Life investigate any concerns raised by staff or students, and where appropriate will action these as according to the University's safeguarding policy.
