Did you have an awesome time this year trying new sports and activities?

We hope that you made the most out of this year, made lots of friends and got fit in the process! Are you now wondering where you can continue your newly acquired level of fitness or where to get involved in sport on a social or competitive basis? Don’t worry, we have it all covered!

Social Sport

If you have enjoyed any of our Social Sports - lacrosse, running, touch rugby, badminton, netball, basketball,  or men’s and women’s football, you can continue all of those as part of the wider Social Sport programme for just £2 per session.  There are over 20 sports that you can choose from, all led by student leaders. All abilities are welcome. You can find out about Social Sport here.

Club Sport

Did you fall in love with a new sport so that playing it once a week is just not enough? (only 3 more sleeps to the next netball session type of thing!). If that is the case, why don’t you join one of our 58 clubs?

The clubs are really friendly and cater for both beginners and competitive level athletes and so give them a shout and they will be happy to give you more details about how you can get involved.

You can find the A-Z of clubs and their contact details here.

Intra Mural

Did you enjoy playing in a weekly football league? You can put a team together and play in one of many Intra Mural football leagues. Are you not into football? Never mind, Intra Mural has a league in netball, hockey, individual squash leagues and more.

For more information please click here.

Here are some of the most popular activities and where you can continue to get involved:

Swimming, Zumba, Yoga and Fitness classes at S10 Gym.

Fitness classes, spinning and yoga were some of the most popular activities on the programme. Our S10 Health Gym offers a range of memberships which allows you to participate in a wide range of fitness classes such as Body Max, Super Core, Pilates, Zumba, Yoga, Hiit Fitness and other. You can find out what's one here.

Spinning alone has 17 classes a week that you can book on for no extra charge as part of your membership (although we wouldn't recommend booking on all of them in one week unless you are preparing for the next Tour de France)!

Membership to Goodwin allows you to use the pool, sauna and steam room. Please have a look at the website  below to see all of the memberships that are available.

If you don’t feel that you would benefit from a gym membership, you can pay to use the swimming pool whenever you want. The one off entry allows you to use the pool, sauna and steam room.

If you want to try different types of yoga, our Yoga and Pilates society run dedicated high quality yoga classes. You can choose from Ashtanga Yoga, Kundalini Yoga and more. You can join the society here.

Bouldering was one of the most popular sports that we had available as part of the programme! This year you have developed basic skills so get together with some of your climbing mates and come down to Matrix for a climbing session!

If you want to take your passion for climbing to the great outdoors, get in touch with the Mountaineering club.  They have regular sessions which include rope climbing as well as bouldering in the Peak District.

Women’s Boxing Fitness

We have been very lucky to run a women’s Boxing Fitness session in conjunction with The Boxing Club who have done a fantastic job in getting more girls into boxing! If you loved the session as much as we did, you can still attend next year for just £2! Boxing is a friendly and approachable club and they always welcome new members! Have a look at their club profice and send them a message for more info. They have sessions for beginners as well as club sessions.

If you enjoyed playing squash on a Friday night, you can book one of the courts for a casual pay and play.

Or alternatively, you can get involved in Social Squash, Squash Club or Intra Mural. There is literally something for everyone in the squash community!

Table Tennis

Our Wednesday night Social Table Tennis session has been very popular and it will continue to run next year! For more information please have a look at the Social Sport website.

The best thing about the ParkRun is that it is completely free of charge! You can monitor your progress on the website and be part of the local community. The closest ParkRun is at Endcliffe every Saturday morning at 9am.For more information please click here
