Give It A Go Volunteering!

All activities are free, including transport. For all our volunteering, no experience is required. You do not need to buy a ticket from the Box Office, instead go to the Sheffield Volunteering office in your Sheffield Students' Union to book your place. (Mon to Fri, 10am - 5pm)

Sheffield Chinese New Year Event 2019

This cultural event promotes Chinese culture and community cohesion. Volunteers will help and support the event - greeting public members / VIP to the event, supporting the work behind the stage for performances and assisting the work for coordination of performance teams, etc. Open only to Chinese students.

Verse Come, Verse Serve

Want to make a difference to an older persons day by having a chat and discussing topics of interest with them? The one off interactive poetry sessions aim to reduce social isolation by encouraging interactions between students and residents, using poetry as a starting point. Each session has a theme (e.g. Sheffield poems) and supportive structure.

Maintain and make improvements to the Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust nature reserves, to benefit of people and wildlife. Get active and improve your physical health on one of their site days! All equipment and supervision provided.

Holiday Activity Fun!

Join the holiday fun and spend a few hours helping kids to be creative at the Sheffield Manor Lodge holiday craft sessions. You will set-up and supervise the fun table-top activities, supporting children and their families making a range of crafts on a variety of themes.

Inspire Students of the Future

The perfect chance to gain schools experience and share passion for your university course. Present and talk to Year 9 pupils (13-14 years old) at a local school about your experience of going to university, the course you are studying, and your career plans. You should be willing to prepare a presentation before your session. Guidance and support provided from a teacher at the school.

Support on a Sunday

Provide a warm and welcome environment for Sheffield's homeless and vulnerable at this friendly volunteer-run shelter. Greet, chat and play games with guests, and serve tea/coffee/soup and a hot two course meal.

Sunday 3rd March 12pm - 4.30pm

Marvellous Manor Lodge Gardens

Enjoy fresh air and get close to nature whilst working on tasks around Sheffield Manor Lodge, a stunning spot with a beautiful view overlooking the city. Jobs range from digging to planting, litter picking to getting waders on and improving ponds on site. All equipment and supervision provided. Refreshments too!

Get out in the fresh air, give your body a light workout and get your hands into the soil! Help nature to flourish and give practical support to a project which offers adults and children the chance to engage with the land and animals. Your work will be admired by our alpacas and chickens who will expect you to feed them before you go.

Working on our peaceful community allotment, tasks will include general gardening, weeding, clearing, digging. The allotment is used with local school-children and families as an educational resource. All equipment provided, plus refreshments.

Spring on the Farm

Put a spring in your step and come along to help the farmer and the team of horticulture volunteers prepare Whirlow Hall Farm for Spring. Activities will include weeding, cutting back and maybe planting seeds too. Meet our animals while you are here!

Whinfell Quarry Garden

Step back in time and into Spring at this beautiful, hidden Victorian garden. Help prepare the garden for summer visitors and restore the natural masterpiece back to its former glory. Enjoy a great morning in the fresh air, doing a variety of gardening tasks.
