Interested in travelling around the UK? Give it a Go day trips are a great opportunity to visit new places and make friends! Sheffield's location is central, which makes it easier to travel around various cities in the UK. And with Give it a Go day trips, you can visit places and depart directly from the University of Sheffield.
On 15 October, I went to Manchester United's stadium and Manchester city centre as a Give it a Go day trip. The meeting point for the trip was Bar One and a coach and trip leader were waiting for us. It took about 1.5 hours from Sheffield to Old Trafford, which is the name of the stadium for the Manchester United team.
Before the stadium tour, we had time to look around the museum of Manchester United. With their long history, the museum was displaying a lot of old uniforms and trophies. And at 10.40am, the tour started. The tour guide took us to various places, including the press room, dressing room and the corridor that players use on the match day. With a tour guide, I could go beyond the scenes and imagine the atmosphere of the match day. These places are seen frequently on TV so it was interesting to see these places and take pictures there. And when the tour ended, the souvenir shop was waiting for me. They gave me a certificate of the museum and stadium tour with my name on it for free and I had a look at items in the shop.
After stadium tour, we went to Manchester city centre and had free time for about 3.5 hours. I went to The John Rylands Library, which is an old library in Manchester. With old books and fascinating interior, it was inspiring to people who visit. Also, as Manchester is a good place for shopping, I went to Manchester Arndale. It is a big shopping mall with various brands, crowded with people who are enjoying shopping.
Departing at around 5pm, I arrived back in Sheffield at 6.45pm. Arriving at Bar One by coach, my first day trip journey ended.
If you want to visit Old Trafford and enjoy the tour, you can book a guided tour at http://www.manutd.com/en/Visit-Old-Trafford.aspx and go to Manchester by yourself.
