Donate your unwanted household items to charity

By AccommodationTeam 11 Jan 2017

Whether you are an ERASMUS student who is leaving, or if you are just having a clear out of your cupboards, remember the University's Donate, Don't Waste scheme this February.

We run an annual charity donation scheme so that instead of throwing away useful items like duvets, kitchenware and clothes that are still in good condition, you can donate them to charity.

We work with the British Heart Foundation and other charities to make sure everything goes to a worthwhile cause.

Watch our video to find out more about how to donate

What you can donate, and where to bring it

Donate the following items to a red British Heart Foundation bank:

  • Clothes
  • Shoes
  • Handbags
  • Accessories
  • Clean kitchenware
  • Books
  • CDs
  • DVDs
  • Small working electrical items

Donate sharp items in the secure green bins (for safety reasons) at The Edge reception, The Ridge reception or Allen Court Common Room:

  • Knives
  • Scissors
  • Other sharp objects

If you are a semester-only ERASMUS student living in Jonas Court or Birchen A, B1 or B2 blocks, you can donate the following items to S6 Foodbank by placing them in the Premier recycling bags that we will provide in your flat:

  • Duvets
  • Pillows
  • Towels
  • Unopened dry or canned food

Leave these items in the lobby area of your apartment block for collection.
