Chinese Lantern Decorating at S3

In 2017, Chinese New Year will fall on 28 January, and this year it’s the Year of the Rooster. To celebrate, Residence Life have arranged a Chinese Paper Lantern decorating session at Sheffield 3.

Paper lanterns originate from the Eastern Han Dynasty and were mainly used as lamps in ancient China. A variety of crafts  were used in their making such as Chinese paintings, paper-cutting, pricking and seaming. Many kinds of materials such as bamboo, wood, wheat-straw and metal were used in their manufacture.

Entrance is completely free so come along to the Sheffield 3 Common Room on 28 January between 12-3pm and we’ll also throw in some free refreshments.  Places are limited so get there early!

Sheffield 3 (80 Hoyle Street, Sheffield S3 7LG ) is a student accommodation complex located in Shalesmoor, near plenty of restaurants, pubs and bars and minutes away from the popular hangout of Kelham Island.
