Become an Activity Rep and run social activities for you and your friends in the residences. We'll throw in all the stuff you need for FREE! Free food! Yes please! Free decorations!! Yes please!! The latest blockbuster DVDs!!! Yes please!!!
Plus you'll have a great addition to your HEAR (Higher Education Achievment Report) and CV and the opportunity to meet new people!
What would I do as an Activity Rep?
You will be able to run your own, fully-funded activities for the students in your area, whether it's a movie night, an off-campus trip or a baking session in your flat. Come up with your own ideas and we will provide you with resources for free and we'll support you in the planning of your activity. Here are some examples of the kinds of things you could do...
.....and many more!
You will get to work with other Activity Reps and Residence Life Mentors. You can either plan activities on your own or you can get together with others to create bigger events.
Residence Life staff put on large-scale events throughout the year and you'll have the opportunity to help out at these events and invite your friends.
As a favour from us, we will give you the opportunity to attend exclusive leadership sessions so that you can develop your skills even further!
Why should I become an Activity Rep?
You'll make a difference by putting on community-building activities to enhance your own and others' student experience.
The Activity Rep role is HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Report) accredited so if you organise a set number of activities across a semester, the role will be added to your HEAR.
You'll have your brilliant ideas heard and you can be sure that the activities you are putting on are what you, the students, want!
Develop activity planning skills and attend exclusive leadership sessions just for Activity Reps (certainly a CV-booster!).
Be a step ahead if you are interested in becoming a Residence Life Mentor next year.
You'll have regular contact with with other Activity Reps at socials and team meetings - even more opportunity to make friends!

Sophie Strong, Residence Life Coordinator (Engagement & Development)
Hi, I’m Sophie and I’m responsible for the Residence Life programme of Events & Activities!
I’ll be putting on various events throughout the year to help you make the most of your time at university. It’s my aim to create a programme where there’s something for everyone wherever your new home is so that you can settle in, meet new people and, most of all, enjoy yourselves!
I’m passionate about Sheffield and the local area because it has so much to offer to students in terms of the great shops, green spaces, restaurants and social places to visit. I hope that by working with local brands and people the programme will encourage you to get out there and explore this amazing city!
Feel free to drop me an email if you want to know more or get in touch and I’ll hopefully be seeing you at events and activities around the residences soon!
