It’s official, this year Student Union’s Baby Bummit is heading to a brand new location… BRISTOL!

Whether you’re a seasoned pro at hitchhiking or you’ve never tried it before, you can join over 200 students and take part in the world’s largest student lead charity hitchhike.

The plan is simple, get yourself to Bristol relying solely on the kindness and generosity of others. Meet people along the way, both fellow students and those giving you the lifts, travel and see new places and most importantly make some unbelievable memories!

This year’s Baby Bummit will take place on Wednesday 7 November from 7am to 11pm.

The best part is that it’s all for charity! Each participant needs to raise £80 for local charities in Sheffield through online Virgin Giving pages (don’t worry, the SU will help you set this up).

The SU will also provide a variety of ways to help you fundraise including bake sales, RAG raids, selling glow sticks at the SU nights out… and more!

The fantastic charities being supported this year are:

  • Ashiana Sheffield – supports members of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee communities who have suffered from violence and abuse.

  • Framework – works to get homeless people off the streets and into safe accommodation in Sheffield.

  • Zest – offers a range of services for children and families in deprived areas in Sheffield.

  • Sheffield Live at Home – supports senior citizens of Sheffield, tackling social isolation and encouraging independence.

Tickets cost £30 and include:

-    A night accommodation in a hostel in Bristol

-    Entrance to the club in Bristol

-    A meal in Bristol

-    Baby Bummit T-shirt

-    Bummit goodie-bag

-    Insurance

-    Phone support

-    Bummit Bible (includes general tips on hitching and an official letter for the SU)

For more information, you can check out the Baby Bummit Facebook Page.
